Work backwards from your take-home
How is the required CTC estimated?
We run the same salary model as our CTC calculator, searching annual packages between ₹1.2 lakh and ₹1 crore for a monthly take-home close to your target. Results are approximate, rounded to whole rupees, and normally match within ₹2 per month. Tax rounding and rebate thresholds can produce multiple matching packages; this is not a unique or guaranteed minimum offer.
What is included in CTC?
Fixed gross, annual variable pay, employer PF, an optional gratuity provision and your entered employer costs. Employee PF, actual professional tax, other payroll deductions and estimated income tax are then deducted to estimate regular monthly take-home. Variable pay is assumed paid in full separately; its estimated annual tax is spread over 12 months.
Which assumptions should I check?
Defaults: basic salary 50% of fixed gross, HRA 40% of basic, PF 12% of basic for each share, gratuity provision included, no variable pay, employer benefits or professional tax. These are editable assumptions, not universal payroll rules. Enter your actual professional tax and deductions. The old-regime result depends on your eligible deductions.
This model is for full-year resident salaried individuals under 60. It does not infer ESI eligibility, taxable perks, employer NPS, capital gains, other income or mid-year job changes. For ESI, enter confirmed employer costs and employee payroll deductions manually. Actual payroll and eligibility may differ.
Tax basis and sources
The estimate uses our shared FY 2026–27 salary engine, including regime-specific standard deductions, applicable rebates, marginal relief, surcharge and cess. Read the full salary methodology, the Income Tax Department Budget 2026 FAQs and EPFO guidance. This is a planning estimate, not a payslip or tax return.
